The year 2021 ended with Emirates at the top of the arrival chart as the airline that carried the most passengers to the Maldives; a position the carrier held since the beginning of this year.
The UAE flag carrier ended 2021 operating 2,850+ flights carrying more than 254,000 passengers to the Maldives.
At peak, the carrier was operating up to 4 flights from Dubai International Airport to Velana International Airport later adding a Sri Lankan connection in September.
Qatar Airways remained closed behind Emirates throughout 2021 in second placing ending the year behind Emirates operating 2,400+ flights carrying 213,000+ passengers.
Indigo, Aeroflot, and GoFirst are in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.
Emirates has recovered fairly well from the pandemic as by the of 2021 nearly all of Emirates’ 133 Boeing 777 and 60 of its Airbus A380 fleet were in active service.
The airline recovered its network to serve 128 destinations worldwide even launching a new route to Miami earlier in July.
