Today marks an unprecedented achievement for Maldives tourism as we welcome this extraordinary influx of travelers. A staggering 10,213 visitors arrived to the Maldives surpassing the previous record.
The surge in arrivals can be attributed to increasing numbers of visitors from China, which held the top market position prior to the pandemic, and Western Europe, a historically significant source of tourism for the Maldives.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, China currently leads as the top source of tourists for our nation, followed by Italy in second place and Russia in third.
In addition to this record-breaking single-day achievement, the cumulative tourist count for the year has now exceeded 200,000, marking a 14% increase compared to the same period last year.
While the government’s budget sets a target of attracting two million tourists this year, the ambitious goal of the tourism ministry is even higher: to welcome 2.3 million tourists during the same period.
With our pristine beaches, azure waters, and warm hospitality, Maldives continues to captivate travelers from around the globe, reaffirming our status as a premier tropical paradise.
