Seven Airlines Set to Launch Seasonal Services to Maldives in Late 2026

Seven airlines are expected to commence seasonal operations to the Maldives during the final quarter of 2026, according to a briefing delivered by Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Hon. Mohamed Ameen on 10 September 2026.

The minister confirmed that carriers from Russia, Bulgaria, Vietnam, and Armenia are among those planning new seasonal flights. In addition, Ethiopian Airlines, French Bee, and Kuwait Airways are scheduled to operate services during the same period. Two of these airlines have previously served the Maldives on a seasonal basis, while the remainder represent new or returning market entries.

The announcement forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen inbound tourism during the high‑demand months. The government has been working to offset earlier declines in visitor numbers attributed to regional geopolitical tensions affecting travel flows from key markets. Officials say the expanded airline presence will support seat capacity, diversify source markets, and reinforce the country’s position as a leading long‑haul leisure destination.

With the addition of these seven carriers, authorities expect improved connectivity across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Tourism officials note that negotiations with several operators are ongoing, and further route announcements may follow as airlines finalise their winter schedules.
