Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation Seeks Helicopter Operators for Enhanced Emergency Services and Tourism Support


The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced an exciting opportunity for helicopter operators to contribute to the enhancement of national emergency services and the tourism industry in the Maldives. The Ministry is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from parties interested in establishing and operating helicopter services that will play a crucial role in various sectors.

This initiative aims to provide rapid medical responses across the Maldives, ensuring timely and efficient healthcare delivery in emergencies. Helicopters will be utilized for search and rescue missions across all regions, enhancing the safety and security of residents and visitors alike.


To promote tourism, the Ministry plans to introduce helicopter-based passenger transportation, offering a unique and efficient travel option for tourists exploring the Maldives.


The Ministry intends to grant the successful respondent a 10-year exclusivity period to conduct helicopter passenger transfers for tourism, subject to the terms of the agreement to be finalized post-selection. This exclusivity aims to ensure a stable and reliable service for the tourism sector.


Interested operators must demonstrate their capability to efficiently manage helicopter operations in the Maldives, particularly considering the unique challenges posed by the island environments. The Ministry is looking for operators with a proven track record in delivering safe and efficient helicopter services.


Interested parties must submit their EOIs in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the ‘Expression of Interest (EOI) Application Form’ accompanying the announcement. Submissions should be sent via email to the provided address no later than 19th August 2024, 14:00 hrs.


This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing emergency services and supporting the tourism industry in the Maldives, offering a unique opportunity for helicopter operators to make a meaningful impact.
