In a ceremony held at the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Villa Air signed an agreement for managing operations future development of Kaadedhdhoo Airport (KDM).
Villa Air has agreed to develop the Airport to international standards over the next 7 years and its airline Flyme will begin flight services to KDM later in 2022.
The management and development of KDM were handed over to Villa Air for a period of 50 years however the contract was revoked and the government of Maldives took over its operations.
The matter was taken to court and Supreme Court ordered in favour of Villa Air.
Kaadehdhooo Airport is among the oldest airports in the Maldives as it began operations in 1993.
National Airline Maldivian currently operates regular flights to KDM primarily from and to Velana International Airport.
