Thai Airways released its financial report for the first half of 2021 on Monday which shows the airline generated profit for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.
While Thai Airways suffered a loss of USD 840 million in the first half of 2020, the airline generated a net profit of USD 333 million in the first half of 2021.
Under cost-cutting, Thai Airways reduced overall expenditure by a massive margin as the airline saved USD 270 million for this period of the year compared to the previous year just in employee benefits alone.
Restructuring and debt management of the airline are underway through court supervision.
As Thailand is still facing travel restrictions, popular flights operated by the airline is still suspended.
Recovery from the pandemic in time would ensure proper recovery of the airline.
