National airline Maldivian takes off for the first flight to Hoarafushi Airport

National airline Maldivian flight Q2 2470 just departed for the inaugural flight to Hoarafushi Airport located in Haa Alif Atoll. Hoarafushi is the northernmost airport in the Maldives.


The airport construction was carried out by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). MTCC reclaimed 345,500sqm for the project, requiring an estimated investment of MVR67 million (USD4.4 million).

The project also includes the construction of a runway measuring 1,200 meters, an apron and taxiway measuring 8,635 square meters, a parking area measuring 9,473 square meters, as well as service roads in front of the terminal. The total cost for the project is MVR198 million (USD12.8 million)
