Manta Air’s Latest Twin Otter Embarks On Journey From Canada To The Maldives

The latest edition to Manta Air’s growing fleet has started the ferry flight across the world from Canada to the Maldives.

The De Havilland DHC6 Twin Otter, MSN 552 first rolled out in 1977.

The Twin Otter was in operation with Mobil Oil in Nigeria for over 19 years before it was retrieved by Rocky Mountain Aircraft in February 2020.

At Rocky Mountain Aircraft, the aircraft underwent inspections and repairs and a new avionics package was installed with all calendar maintenance completed prior to being acquired by Manta Air.

The Twin Otter is expected to land in Velana International Airport this Sunday and thereafter would be flown to Manta Air’s base in Dhaalu Airport for the installation of floats for seaplane operations.
