IndiGo Airlines ATR 72-600 Suffers Tyre Burst During Landing in Hubli Airport


An Indigo Airlines ATR 72 became disabled on the runway after landing as the aircraft both nose gear tyre blew during landing at Hubli Airport, India.

The ATR 72-600 registration VT-IYX was performing flight 6E-7979 from Kannur to Hubli India with 7 passengers and 4 crew.


During initial approach, the crew performed a last-minute go-around after touching down on the runway in Hubli Airport due to strong winds.


The aircraft entered a hold and performed a second approach and landed on runway 26 thirty minutes later with both nose gear tyre blown.

“IndiGo ATR operating 6e-7979 from Kannur to Hubballi reported tyre burst at Hubli upon arrival yesterday evening. All passengers and crew are safe. Aircraft is currently under maintenance checks at Hubbali.” - Indigo

The runway remained closed for 4 hours until the aircraft was moved.
