Emirates starts trials of IATA’s Travel Pass

Emirates has started trials of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) digital travel pass. The travel pass will aid passengers to easily secure and manage their travel in line with any government requirements for COVID-19 testing or vaccine information.

Passengers traveling on flight EK185 from Dubai to Barcelona on 15th April 2021 trialed the ‘digital passport’ to verify and share their pre-travel COVID-19 test status with Emirates.

“The ability to process passengers’ COVID-19 relevant data for travel digitally will be the way forward. We are pleased to have been pioneers and partner with IATA in trialing this initiative in real-time and soon will be launching other initiatives to further enhance our customer experience.” said Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer

Emirates will be carrying out trials on selected flights in the coming days. Emirates has also partnered with select Prime Health Care labs to send test results to passengers via the app.

IATA launched the travel pass to provide a global and standardized solution to validate and authenticate COVID-19 passenger regulations set by different countries and their travel requirements.
