Emirates has resumed flights to New York on the Airbus A380 Superjumbo after more than a year.

The daily flight from Dubai to New York's John F Kennedy Airport was operated on the Boeing 777-300ER. The A380 upgrade was necessary due to the rise in passenger demand.

The Emirates Boeing 777-300ER has a passenger capacity of 365 while the A380 can accommodate up to 517 passengers.

Emirates will also be launching flights to Miami starting July on the Boeing 777-300ER.

“Launching a non-stop service to Miami at this time signals our confidence in travel recovery as countries progress on their vaccination programmes and implement protocols for the safe resumption of flight and travel activity, particularly in the US and the UAE,” - Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Chairman and Chief Executive Sheikh Ahmed bin

Emirates will be resuming additional flights on the A380 in the coming weeks. The airline presently has 19 active A380’s operating from a fleet of 118.
