Embraer unveiled the configuration for its new conceptual turboprop airplane.
The turboprop airplane will feature 70-90 seats with a 2-2 configuration intend to replace the current 50 seater regional jets in the market while providing extra capacity.
“Our proposal here is to offer a high-tech, 70- to 90-seat turboprop with the same cross-section as the E-Jets. Very comfortable, no middle seats and spacious overhead bins,” - Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer’s senior vice-president of engineering, technology, and corporate strategy.
The engines for the turboprop will be located at the aft of the airplane and the it’ll will be a direct competitor to the Dash8 and the ATR which dominates the turboprop market.
This program is expected to be launched by 2022 and to enter into service by 2027.
Embraer is having an excellent year with
the plane manufacturer generating a revenue of USD 1.13 billion netting a profit of USD 43.6 million in the second quarter of 2021.
