BREAKING: Missing Russian Antonov An-26’s Wreckage Found, All 28 On Board Feared Dead

Earlier today a Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise’s Antonov An-26 aircraft was reported lost after failing to contact air traffic control during the final approach.

The An-26 was operating flight from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Palana with 22 passengers and six crew.

Among the passenger include Olga Mokhireva, the head of the local government in Palana.

Following a search and rescue operation, the Kamchatka's government reported that the aircraft wreckage was located with parts of the debris found in land and water.

At the time of the crash, the areas by the mountains around Palana were covered in clouds with broken cloud ceilings at 1000ft (300m) MSL and an overcast cloud layer at 2,400ft (720m) MSL.

Poor visibility around the airport may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
