Velana International Airport (VIA) has set a new Air Traffic Movement Record yesterday, 19th February.
A total of 839 movements were recorded at VIA of which 629 were seaplane and the remaining 210 were wheel-based airplanes.
This record breaks the previous record set just only a month before on 2nd January 2022.
VIA has seen significant growth over the last few years as the tourism industry grew attracting many schedules and charter airliners to the Maldives.
Once the construction of the new international terminal building is complete VIA will be able to handle 7.8 million passengers annually.
