Russian carrier Aeroflot airline is to resume direct flights between Male’ Maldives and Moscow, Russia in May.
Daily scheduled flights will begin between the two counties on 13th May which will be operated on the Airbus A330.
Passengers travelling on earlier dates can fly to the Maldives via a connecting flight from Colombo, Sri Lanka operated by Sri Lankan Airlines.
According to Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, the air service agreement between Russia and Maldives remains unchanged and airport authorities in the Maldives will provide aircraft services including ground handling and fueling services as necessary for the flights.
Before halting operations Aeroflot operated daily flights to the Maldives carrying the majority of the Russian tourists to the Maldives.
In 2021 alone more than 200,000 tourists arrived from Russia placing only second behind India in the top arrival chart.
