Villa Air, a private carrier and subsidiary of Villa Group has been alleged of failing to pay its employees their full salaries.
According to reports from employees, the airline has not paid the full salary amount for over three months for some of its staff. In addition to these allegations, employees who signed contracts for salaries in USD are being paid in Maldivian Rufiyaa, which is a breach of contract.
The company is yet to provide any explanation for the unpaid salaries or the change in currency for payment. Villa Group, owned by Mr Qasim Ibrahim, is one of the largest business entities in the Maldives and is known for its diverse range of businesses.
The lack of response from the company has raised concerns among its employees and the public. This has caused further frustration and uncertainty among the affected employees.
