Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has firmly ordered two ATR 42-600 turboprop aircraft during the ongoing Singapore Air Show 2024.
This strategic move expands Maldivian’s current ATR fleet to a total of seven ATR aircraft.
The new ATR 42-600s will feature a modern and comfortable cabin layout, enhancing the travel experience for passengers on short-haul routes within the Maldives and the surrounding region.
These fuel-efficient and operationally flexible aircraft are well-suited for serving Maldivian’s diverse network.
Maldivian currently operates with a fleet of three ATRs while the fourth ATR is currently under test flight phase in Toulouse, France and will be delivered to the carrier over the next few weeks.
Additionally, the Maldivian government has made a unique decision: while transitioning its fleet away from aging Dash8s to newer ATRs, it will convert one Dash8 into an Air Ambulance establishing the first dedicated air ambulance service in the country.
