JUST IN: IndiGo Places Mega Order For 500 Airbus Jet Planes At The Paris Air Show

IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost carrier, has placed a record-breaking order for 500 Airbus jets at the Paris Air Show.

The order, which is record for the Airbus A320neo family of jet planes. It is also larger than Air India’s recent order of 470 airplanes.

With a 61% share of the domestic Indian market, IndiGo is currently in talks with both Airbus and Boeing for future orders. As the largest airline in India in terms of passengers carried, IndiGo is also expanding its long-haul operations by wet leasing three Boeing 777-300ERs through a partnership with Turkish Airlines to connect Europe.

This order comes as a major win for Airbus after not receiving any major orders at last year’s Farnborough Airshow. IndiGo has a history of placing large orders at the Paris Air Show, starting in 2005 when it placed an order for 100 A320 aircraft
