The Aviation Institute of Maldives (AIM) has been officially inaugurated, marking a major step in Maldives Airports Company Limited’s (MACL) long‑term strategy to build a stronger, more skilled aviation workforce.

Speaking at the ceremony on 12 August 2026, held at Hulhule Island Hotel, CEO & Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said AIM will play a central role in developing qualified professionals across key areas of airport operations. He emphasised that MACL’s future progress depends on the continuous enhancement of employee knowledge, technical capability and professional competence.
Shareef noted that AIM will provide structured pathways for staff to obtain recognised qualifications while continuing their careers at MACL, enabling employees to advance through targeted training programmes aligned with operational needs.
The event also celebrated the graduation of AIM’s first cohort, with 29 participants completing the Certificate Level 3 in Airport Security Management. Shareef congratulated the graduates and encouraged all MACL employees to fully utilise the training and development opportunities now available through AIM.
The establishment of AIM marks a significant milestone for MACL as it expands its commitment to workforce development and strengthens the talent pipeline for the Maldives’ aviation sector
