Maldivian Signs Agreement for Two New Twin Otter Classic 300-G Aircraft

Maldivian has signed an Aircraft Purchase Agreement with De Havilland Canada for the acquisition of two new Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft, marking another significant step in the airline’s ongoing fleet modernisation program.

The agreement will see Maldivian add two new Twin Otter aircraft to its fleet, strengthening its capability to operate reliable domestic services across the Maldives. The introduction of new-generation Twin Otters is expected to support fleet reliability, operational efficiency and the airline’s long-term domestic network development.

The De Havilland Canada Twin Otter Classic 300-G is a modernised version of the iconic Twin Otter, featuring a 5,670 kg maximum take-off weight, Garmin G1000 NXi avionics, and excellent Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) capabilities. The aircraft can carry up to 19 passengers and is designed for operations from short, remote and challenging airstrips.

The agreement with De Havilland Canada also reinforces the long-standing relationship between the manufacturer and Maldivian. The airline has operated the Twin Otter for many years, making the aircraft an important part of its history and its domestic connectivity strategy.

With the addition of the two new aircraft, Maldivian continues to invest in its fleet and strengthen its position as the Maldives’ national airline, supporting connectivity between the capital and communities across the country.
