Bahrain has taken a decisive step toward strengthening its position as a global aviation hub with the announcement of a strategic partnership between Gulf Air and Beond, the world’s first all‑premium leisure airline. The agreement brings together Gulf Air’s extensive international network and decades‑long reputation with Beond’s boutique, all‑flatbed, private‑jet‑style experience, creating a combined offering aimed at the world’s most discerning travellers.

The partnership was formalised during a signing ceremony at the Bahrain National Theatre, attended by senior government and industry leaders, including Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. Officials described the collaboration as a model of how national vision, commercial strategy and regulatory support can align to deliver long‑term economic value.
Under the agreement, Beond, operating under its Bahrain‑based Air Operator Certificate will integrate its all‑business‑class Airbus A319 and A321 fleet, offering a private‑jet‑style cabin with lie‑flat seating and bespoke onboard service. Gulf Air will leverage its 6.4 million annual passengers and expansive network to connect this ultra‑premium product to major global markets.
The partnership includes a comprehensive codeshare arrangement, enabling seamless end‑to‑end itineraries across both airlines. Initial projections estimate 2,000 to 4,000 premium passengers in 2026, with expectations rising to tens of thousands annually by 2030 as the joint offering matures.
Gulf Air CEO Martin Gauss described the move as a bold expansion into a new market segment, positioning Bahrain as a premium hub for global luxury travel. Beond CEO Tero Taskila highlighted the alignment between the partnership and Bahrain’s forward‑looking aviation strategy, noting that the collaboration will “connect the kingdom to the travellers it deserves.”
The partnership supports Bahrain’s national aviation vision, which aims to expand connectivity to 100 destinations by 2030, reinforcing the kingdom’s ambition to become a world‑class gateway linking East and West.
With operations set to begin in December, the Gulf Air–Beond partnership marks a significant evolution in the premium travel landscape uniting legacy strength with boutique innovation. For Bahrain, it represents a strategic leap toward becoming a global centre for high‑value tourism and aviation.
