Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has introduced a revised traffic flow system at Velana International Airport, effective today, to improve accessibility and ease of movement for passengers using Terminal 2.

Beginning at 10:00 AM on 25 March 2026, the area directly in front of Terminal 2 has been formally designated as a dedicated drop‑off and pick‑up zone. MACL says the change is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the passenger experience and streamline ground transport operations at the country’s main international gateway.

Under the new arrangement, the stretch between the Terminal 2 Arrivals area and the roundabout has been allocated specifically for passenger drop‑offs, with marked slots allowing space for up to four taxis at a time. Meanwhile, the area between the Terminal 2 Departures section and the roundabout has been set aside for passenger pick‑ups, with capacity for up to five taxis.

To support the transition and maintain orderly vehicle movement, MACL staff have been deployed throughout the zone to guide drivers and assist passengers.

MACL noted that the adjustments are part of a broader effort to improve traffic efficiency around the airport as passenger numbers continue to grow.
