Island Aviation Services Ltd (IASL), the operator of the national carrier Maldivian, has issued a new call for proposals to finance‑lease two new ATR 42‑600 aircraft. The announcement marks a renewed effort to secure long‑term financing after an earlier tender for the same aircraft was released in late 2025.

According to the new Request for Proposal (RFP) published on 2 February 2026, IASL is seeking a finance lease arrangement with a minimum term of fifteen years.
The re‑tender comes as Maldivian continues to expand and modernize its turboprop fleet. The airline has already signed purchase agreements with ATR following its firm order placed during the 2024 Singapore Airshow. Under the current delivery schedule, the first ATR 42‑600 is expected to arrive in August 2026, with the second following in October 2027. These aircraft will support the carrier’s growing domestic network, particularly as new regional airports open across the atolls.
IASL notes that all proposals must strictly follow the structure and requirements outlined in the official RFP document. Submissions are to be made exclusively via email, using the designated address and subject line provided by the company. Any deviation from the required format may result in disqualification.
Proposals must be submitted to: proc.proposals@iasl.aero

With the Maldives’ domestic aviation sector continuing to evolve, the addition of new ATR 42‑600s is expected to enhance connectivity, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen Maldivian’s position as the country’s primary domestic carrier.
