A wingtip collision between an Air India Airbus A320 and an IndiGo A320 occurred during taxi at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, leading both aircraft to be taken out of service for inspection while all passengers remained safe and uninjured.

Initial information indicates the Air India aircraft was stationary on the taxiway awaiting clearance when the IndiGo aircraft, taxiing in after landing, passed alongside and its wingtip made physical contact with the Air India jet, resulting in minor structural damage.
Air India reported that its aircraft sustained minor wingtip damage and was grounded for mandatory inspection, while IndiGo confirmed the occurrence and withdrew its aircraft from service as a precaution pending a detailed engineering assessment.
The DGCA initiated an inquiry and began reviewing ATC recordings, crew reports, taxiway movements, and airport surface data to determine how the two aircraft ended up in close proximity during routine ground operations.
No injuries were reported, passengers from both flights were safely offloaded, and affected services were rescheduled or re‑accommodated while the aircraft remain grounded pending engineering clearance.
