Turkish Airlines has commenced operations at Velana International Airport (VIA) Terminal 1, becoming the 41st airline to shift its services to the new terminal.

The inaugural arrival was welcomed with a warm reception led by MACL CEO & Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, alongside Turkish Airlines Maldives Station Manager Ms. Elif Ozturk Minach, Deputy Managing Director Mujthaba Latheef, and members of the MACL Executive Committee. The delegation greeted arriving passengers and crew, underscoring the significance of Türkiye’s national carrier expanding its presence at VIA.
To commemorate the occasion, a vibrant Boduberu performance was held at the arrival area, offering guests an authentic cultural welcome and marking the start of Turkish Airlines’ operations at Terminal 1.
With Turkish Airlines now operating from Terminal 1, Velana International Airport continues to reinforce its role as a premier gateway to the Maldives, welcoming millions of travelers to one of the world’s most sought‑after destinations.
