Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator, has once again secured top international recognition at the World Travel Awards 2025, held at Exhibition World Bahrain. The airline was honored with two prestigious titles, World’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2025 and Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2025.

The ceremony, attended by more than 300 leaders from the global tourism industry, highlighted TMA’s central role in enabling access to the Maldives’ resort islands. Since its establishment in 1993, the airline has grown into a global aviation leader, operating the world’s largest seaplane fleet of 65 DHC-6 Twin Otters and serving over 80 resort destinations nationwide.
The awards add to TMA’s long record of international accolades, reflecting its consistent focus on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. The airline continues to invest in fleet upgrades, infrastructure, training, and technology-driven enhancements to meet rising passenger demand while maintaining its hallmark of dependable service.
The dual honors at the World Travel Awards 2025 not only reaffirm TMA’s leadership in seaplane operations but also highlight the Maldives’ unique position as a global tourism hub, where aviation and hospitality work hand in hand to deliver world-class experiences.
