Beijing Capital Airlines and Bangkok Airways Begin Operations at Velana Terminal 1

Beijing Capital Airlines commenced its inaugural arrival at the newly opened Terminal 1. The flight was welcomed with a ceremonial water salute, symbolizing the airline’s formal integration into the terminal’s international operations.

The occasion was attended by key industry and healthcare stakeholders, including Mr. Adhil Moosa, CEO of Treetop Hospital; Mr. Mujthaba Latheef, Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL); and Mr. Ignaz Mansoor, General Manager of Voyages Maldives. MACL Board Members and Senior Management were also present to commemorate the event.

Terminal 1, designed to enhance passenger experience and streamline international traffic, continues to expand its airline portfolio. Following Beijing Capital Airlines’ debut, Bangkok Airways is scheduled to operate its first flight to Terminal 1 today.

MACL officials noted that the phased onboarding of carriers into Terminal 1 reflects the airport’s commitment to operational excellence and stakeholder collaboration.
