Emirates Scheduled To Be The First Airliner To Land At The New Runway At Velana Airport

Velana International Airport's (VIA) new Code F Runway will be officially opened for use tomorrow morning, on the 6th of October.

According to VIA’s arrival schedule, Emirates EK656 is currently scheduled to land at 07:00 for the opening of the runway.

The opening ceremony will take place upon the arrival of the first aircraft.

Since January this year, the new runway is been used as a taxiway to allow for a smoother operation which has increase operational capacity of the airport by double.

The 3,400m long and 60m wide Code F runway will be able to accommodate even the largest commercial aircraft the Airbus A380.
