Why are military aircraft activity not visible through Flightradar24?

Flightradar24 is a service that shows real-time aircraft tracking information. The services provide flight tracking information origins and destinations, flight numbers, aircraft types, positions, altitudes, headings and speeds.

It also allows users to see replays of previous tracks and historical flight data by airline, aircraft, aircraft type, area or airport.

Outside of the USA, Flightradar24 primarily uses information gathered from volunteers with ADS-B receivers and from satellite-based ADS-B receivers.

With the mobile application it is very convenient for users to get real time flight track information however all live aircraft details are not visible on Flightradar24.

This can be for multiple reasons. The aircraft could be outside of coverage area, the aircraft may not equipped with a compatible transponder, or for various other reasons in which receivers in the area are unable to see the aircraft, it cannot be displayed.

Aircraft activity in Maldivian Airspace

Furthermore, operators are also allowed to restrict flight information being displayed. Globally almost all military aircraft activity are restricted from being displayed from their respective governing body for security reasons and etc. Many other government aircraft and private jet operators also restrict their aircraft from being displayed.

Although MNDF helicopters and Dornier aircraft are flown routinely in Maldivian airspace, users will not be able to see the aircraft activity through Flightradar24. Many private jets that operate in the Maldivian airspace also have their aircraft details hidden. What users would normally see are all commercial aircraft activity in the airspace.
