As of 25th August, 732,896 tourists have visited the Maldives with August being the busiest month of the entire year.
Tourist arrivals in August have so far exceeded that of 2019 although the margin is yet very small.
From 1st to 25th August, 120,341 tourists arrived in 2019 whereas 120,529 arrived in 2021.
The surge in tourist arrivals occurred with a significant increase in tourists from South Asian countries who are visiting the Maldives as quarantine travelers.
Russia currently holds the top spot in market share with India close behind in second.
Maldives Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom stated that the country expects a total of 1.3 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year.
