Qatar Airways Halts Airbus A350 Deliveries After Surface Paint Issues

Qatar Airways has stopped taking deliveries of the Airbus A350 due to a flaw in the surface below the paint which is degrading at an accelerating rate.

“Qatar Airways will require this condition and its underlying root cause to be fully understood and corrected before the delivery of any further Airbus A350 aircraft.” - Qatar Airways

The issue was discovered as one of the A350’s paint was stripped for repainting and the airline has found a similar issue in other A350s over time.

“We have an issue with Airbus we need to settle, and if we are not able to settle that serious issue we have with them, we will refuse to take any aircraft from them.” - Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO

Qatar Airways is the largest A350 customer in the world with 34 A350s and an additional 23 to be delivered to the airline.
