Maldives has been added to the red list for UK travelers following the surge in COVID19 cases.

The UK FCDO advised against all but essential travel to the Maldives. Only British, Irish National, or residence rights in the UK will be allowed entry to the UK from a country following a stay in countries in the red list within the last ten days.

Travelers from countries in the red list will have to quarantine in a hotel for 10 days following the return to the UK. It is advised to not travel to red-list countries or territories for leisure purposes.

According to FCDO, starting 04:00 AM on 12th May all direct flights from the Maldives to England will be prohibited and the Maldives will be on the banned travel list.

So far in 2021, 11,123 tourists arrived in the Maldives from the United Kingdom. The UK is ranked 8th as the top market source for the Maldives.
