MACL: New Seaplane Terminal Is Yet To Be Fully Handed Over

News reports surfaced earlier this week regarding the complete handover of Velana International Airports' new seaplane terminal by Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) to Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL).

MACL clarified on a press release that the news regarding the complete handover of the new terminal was factually misleading.

MACL highlighted that on 4th August 2021, a partial handover took place with some tasks still to be completed before the full handover.

The partial handover will allow the building tenants to carry out their fit-out works for lounges and other necessary tasks.

Under the seaplane project, a Seaplane Terminal and a Seaplane Maintenance facility will be constructed.

The new terminal will be able to accommodate more than 85 seaplanes on docks and the 4 stories building will include VVIP dedicated arrival lobbies and other modern facilities.
