Neighboring India was removed from UK’s ‘Red List’ for travel earlier in August however Maldives remains.
The removal from the ‘Red List’ has led to a spike in travel demands with British Airways doubling flights between the two countries.
Under the ‘Amber List’ which India is now categorized in, fully vaccinated passengers will no longer be obligated to adhere to the 10-day hotel quarantine.
From the countries in the ‘Red List, only British and Irish nationals, or those who hold residency rights in the United Kingdom, are allowed to enter the UK.
According to HPA's Director-General Thasleema Usman, Maldives remains on the ‘Red List’ as Maldives is yet to complete the Genomic Sequencing Test.
Last Wednesday, Maldives was also removed from Abu Dhabi’s ‘Green List’ for travel.
