An Air Greenland Dash8 suffers engine failure in flight for the third time in three months

An Air Greenland Dash 8-200 suffered an engine failure on 14th April 2021 making it the third engine failure on the dash 8 for the airline in three months.

The Dash8-200 registration OY-GRP was performing flight GL-4651 from Kulusuk to Nuuk, Greenland with 24 passengers on board.

The aircraft was climbing out of Kulusuk's gravel runway 29 when the crew was required to shut down the right-hand engine.

The Dash8 returned for landing in Kulusuk runway 11 about 11 mins after departure with emergency vehicles on standby.

The same Dash8-200 had an engine failure two weeks ago on 02nd April while another Dash8-200 suffered an engine failure on 10th February 2021.

The airline has stated that this occurrence is not related to the two engine shutdowns that previously occurred.
