Airbus Delivers 50th A220 to Delta Airlines

Airbus yesterday delivered the 50th Airbus A220 to Delta airlines.

The 50th A220 was build at the Airbus Final Assembly Line in Alabama, USA. Combined Airbus builds 5 A220’s each month in its two A220 production facilities.

Airbus is foreseeing major growth in its production line and is expecting to deliver up to 14 A220’s monthly by 2025.

Delta airlines initially placed 75 orders in 2016 for the A220 (then C-series) which was originally designed and built by Bombardier.

Boeing filed a trade complaint following the large order by Delta alleging that Canada’s support of the program amounted to an unfair subsidy.

As the trade battle raged on, Airbus acquired a majority stake in the C-series in 2018 and rebranded it as the Airbus A220. Airbus has 490 orders remaining for the A220.
