Qatar Airways Former Chairman Receives 20-Year Jail Sentence

Mr. Ali Sharif Al-Emadi received a 20-year sentence after being found guilty on multiple charges such as money laundering and bribery.

Arrested in May 2021, Mr. Ali Sharif Al-Emadi formerly Chairman of the board at Qatar Airways was charged with activities related to the time he worked as a Finance minister. He was Minister of Finance from 2013 until the time of arrest.

His sentence also includes a fine of USD 16.8 billion which is reportedly triple the amount he allegedly laundered.
