MACL Concludes Internship Program for Individuals with Disabilities

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has successfully concluded a three-month internship program designed for students with diverse disabilities from Care Society. This strategic initiative, undertaken by MACL, aimed to provide invaluable work exposure to four students, offering them the opportunity to learn within the dynamic environment of Velana International Airport.

The program, conducted from May 1st to July 31st, 2023, was a collaborative effort between MACL and Care Society. A special certificate awarding ceremony was held at Velana International Airport, where MACL’s CEO & Managing Director, Mahjoob Shujau, presented the certificates of completion to the interns. The ceremony was attended by senior management from MACL and representatives from Care Society.

During the course of the internship program, the interns were given a special allowance and rotated through various pivotal sections of MACL, including daily administrative work, customer service engagement, and staff support. Under the guidance of dedicated supervisors, the interns embraced challenges and gained valuable work experience.

In a speech during the ceremony, MACL’s General Manager of Corporate Communications stated that the program is in alignment with MACL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and illustrates the company’s commitment to providing sustainable support for vulnerable communities. The opportunity not only helped the interns gain work experience but also boosted their confidence.

The internship program for individuals with disabilities is part of MACL’s ongoing commitment to contributing to the welfare of the community and sustainable development within the country. By extending a helping hand to those in need, MACL strengthens its role as a vital contributor to the community while also championing an all-encompassing ethos of inclusivity and accessibility.
