Emirates Adding Two Boeing 747s For It’s SkyCargo



Emirates is wet-leasing a pair of Boeing 747-400 freighters to be used under its SkyCargo division.


Emirates first operated the Boeing 747-400F in 2001 however the 747s were phased out nearly 6 years ago.


In addition to the 747s; Emirates has major expansion plans for its SkyCargo division with plans to acquire five Boeing 777Fs and 10 more Boeing 777-300ERs which will he converted to freighters in the upcoming years. The Boeing 747s will be used in route's such as USA and China.


According to Emirates even these additional aircraft will not be sufficient to meet cargo demand as the world is experiencing a major increase for air cargo. Emirates aims to scale up freighter conversion program if required.
