Maldives Customs Seizes 1kg of Drugs at Velana International Airport

Maldives Customs has intercepted 1.02 kilograms of cocaine at Velana International Airport (VIA)on April 27, found concealed within a courier package.

The package underwent a detailed inspection after raising suspicions. Authorities conducted an initial test, which confirmed the presence of cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately MVR 2.5 million.

The case has been handed over to the Maldives Police Service for further investigation, with authorities working to determine the source and intended recipient of the package.

Maldives Customs continues to enhance security screening measures at VIA, including advanced cargo inspection techniques, to combat smuggling through courier services.
