Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics announced today that the all-new Gulfstream G800, the world’s longest-range business jet has achieved type certification from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The G800 now boasts an ultra-long range of 8,200 nautical miles (15,186 kilometers) at Mach 0.85, an increase of 200 nm (370 km) over original expectations. It is also capable of covering 7,000 nm (12,964 km) at a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, and an impressive 8,000 nm (14,816 km) at Mach 0.87. Additionally, the aircraft’s maximum operating speed has been increased to Mach 0.935, up from Mach 0.925.
“This certification is a testament to the expertise and dedication of our flight test, certification, and manufacturing teams,” said Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream. “The G800 represents the pinnacle of business aviation, offering unmatched range, performance, and comfort. With these enhanced capabilities, our customers will enjoy greater mission flexibility and access to more destinations than ever before.”
The G800’s certified takeoff distance has been reduced to a balanced field length of 5,812 feet (1,771 meters), while its landing distance stands at just 3,105 feet (946 meters), both improvements over initial figures. These enhancements further expand the aircraft’s operational versatility by enabling access to shorter runways and a wider range of airports globally.

Inside the cabin, the G800 offers Gulfstream’s signature blend of comfort and innovation. Shared with the G700, the G800 features the industry’s lowest cabin altitude 2,840 feet (866 meters) while cruising at 41,000 feet (12,497 meters)—as well as 100% fresh air and a plasma ionization air purification system. Sixteen Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows flood the whisper-quiet cabin with natural light, which can be configured with up to four living areas or three living areas and a dedicated crew compartment.
Powered by advanced Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and a Gulfstream-designed aerodynamic wing and winglet, the G800 delivers not only speed and range, but also improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, aligning with the industry’s push for more sustainable aviation solutions.
“The Gulfstream team continues to redefine what is possible in business aviation,” added Burns. “With certifications now secured, we are fully prepared to begin G800 deliveries to our customers in the U.S. and Europe.”
As part of General Dynamics, Gulfstream benefits from a robust aerospace and defense heritage. General Dynamics employs over 100,000 people globally and reported $47.7 billion in revenue for 2024. Gulfstream’s latest certification milestone reinforces its position as a leader in innovation, safety, and performance in the business aviation sector.
