Manta Air has introduced a change to its salary payment structure, shifting from its previous system of 100% payment in US dollars to a new split model. Under the revised structure, employees will now receive 50% of their salary in Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) and the remaining 50% in US dollars (USD).

The shift in salary structure comes at a time when access to US dollars has become limited across the country. Many businesses, including those in the aviation and tourism sectors, have been navigating challenges in sourcing adequate USD to meet operational and payroll demands.

While the airline has not officially disclosed the reasons behind the change, such adjustments are often influenced by similar financial, or foreign exchange factors.

Employees have been informed of the change, and the new structure is expected to take effect with upcoming salary cycles.
