Villa Air’s Two Twin Otters Arrive in the Maldives

In order to relaunch seaplane operations two De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft for Villa Air has reportedly arrived in Maldives. These new additions are set to enhance the airline’s air travel capacity.

The Twin Otters, renowned for their reliability and versatility, have been a staple in the Maldivian skies, particularly for their ability to operate in the unique island environment. The aircraft will undergo necessary modifications to equip them with floats, enabling them to operate as seaplanes.
Prior to the Twin Otters, Villa Air under the brand FlyMe, utilized a single-engine Cessna 208 Caravan for its seaplane services. The Cessna 208 Caravan was used for various operations, including charter flights and scenic photo flights.
Villa Air has recently sold majority of the carries ATR aircraft in what appears to be a transition to a primarily seaplane operations. The carrier has been operating with a fleet of ATR since launching airline operations primarily to Dharavandhoo and base Maamigili.
