Two Jailed Over Motorcycle Theft at Velana International Airport

A motorcycle belonging to a woman was stolen from the parking lot at Velana International Airport on June 25, leading to prison sentences for two men who admitted to the crime during a court hearing this week.

The theft occurred at the airport's parking facility, a location that serves thousands of travelers and employees daily. The motorcycle belonged to a female owner who had reportedly parked it at the lot before it was taken.

The two defendants, identified as Ahmed Muaviyath and Mohamed Azim, appeared before the Criminal Court, where both entered guilty pleas to charges related to the theft. Following their admissions, the court handed Muaviyath a sentence of one year, seven months, and Azim a sentence of nine months and 18 days.
