Air India has temporarily scaled back its services to Malé, with the airline citing operational constraints and elevated fuel prices as the primary reasons behind the adjustment. The reduction forms part of a broader network recalibration affecting several international routes during the June–August 2026 period.

The carrier said the decision was driven by a combination of airspace restrictions, which have increased block times on multiple long‑haul sectors, and record‑high jet fuel prices, prompting a strategic redistribution of aircraft and crew resources. Despite the cuts, Air India emphasized that the Maldives remains a key leisure market and that the airline is not withdrawing from the route.
The airline had earlier increased capacity on the Delhi–Malé sector during the Middle East airspace disruption in March, underscoring the destination’s continued importance for outbound Indian tourism.
