Edelweiss Air is expanding its Maldives operations for the upcoming European summer season, with two additional weekly flights scheduled between 4 July and 13 September 2026. The seasonal increase enhances direct connectivity between Zurich and Malé, supporting strong leisure‑travel demand during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The added frequencies will supplement Edelweiss Air’s existing long‑haul leisure schedule, offering travellers more flexibility and improved access to the Maldives during the July–September peak.
Edelweiss Air, Switzerland’s leading leisure carrier, has long served the Maldives as part of its premium holiday network. The Zurich to Malé service is now operated with Edelweiss Air’s Airbus A350, replacing the previously used A340 fleet. The wide‑body aircraft offers a full‑service long‑haul product, including checked baggage, inflight meals, and generous sports‑equipment allowances, features that continue to appeal strongly to long‑haul leisure travellers.
The additional summer flights come at a welcome time for the Maldives, as international connectivity has been significantly affected in recent months due to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Several Gulf carriers have reduced frequencies or adjusted schedules, impacting overall seat capacity into Malé. Against this backdrop, Edelweiss Air’s decision to add more flights provides a timely boost for the market, helping stabilise European arrivals during a period of regional disruption.
