AJet Boeing 737 Veers Off Runway Amid Heavy Rain in Istanbul

An AJet Boeing 737-800, operating flight VF102 from Pristina, Kosovo, experienced a runway excursion after landing at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport amid heavy rainfall.

The aircraft, registered TC-JZN, touched down on runway 24L and slowed to approximately 60 knots before attempting to exit via a high-speed turnoff. The jet skidded on the wet surface and came to a stop on soft ground within the runway’s protected area.
Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew were safely evacuated without injuries. Emergency services were quickly deployed to assess the aircraft and ensure passenger safety. The incident led to the temporary closure of runway 06R/24L.
