Manta Air Expands Seaplane Fleet With Arrival of New Twin Otter

Manta Air’s newest De Havilland Canada DHC‑6 Twin Otter landed at Velana International Airport this afternoon, marking the latest addition to the airline’s growing seaplane fleet.

The Twin Otter is a proven workhorse in Maldivian aviation, he new aircraft will strengthen Manta Air’s role in connecting Velana International Airport with resorts across the Maldives. Seaplanes remain a vital link for the country’s tourism industry, providing reliable transfers for tourists.


The aircraft arrived under its U.S. registration N814RT and will later be re‑registered in the Maldives as 8Q‑RAK once formalities are complete. The aircraft will be flown to Dhaalu Atoll, where Manta Air maintains its seaplane base, for final preparations including the installation of floats before entering service.
