A Rubystar Airways aircraft operated a cargo flight to Gan International Airport, Addu City, originating from Tekirdağ, Turkey, with a stopover in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. The flight has since departed the Maldives, and details regarding its cargo remain undisclosed.

Tekirdağ is home to Baykar Technologies, the Turkish defense manufacturer behind the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) acquired by the Maldives in 2024. The TB2 drones, known for their operational versatility and surveillance capabilities, marked a significant milestone in the Maldives’ defense modernization efforts.

While the nature of the cargo onboard the Rubystar Airways flight has not been officially confirmed, the routing and origin point have drawn attention due to the strategic relevance of Baykar’s facilities. The aircraft’s arrival in Addu City comes amid ongoing regional efforts to enhance maritime domain awareness and aerial surveillance capabilities.

Rubystar Airways is based in Belarus and operates as a cargo airline with a fleet primarily composed of Soviet-era aircraft, including Ilyushin Il-76 and Antonov An-12 freighters.

The airline has been subject to aviation sanctions, including airspace bans and operational limitations however, Rubystar continues to conduct flights through alternative corridors, often focusing on cargo missions in the Middle East, Africa, and parts of Asia.
