All scheduled flights to Fuvahmulah have been cancelled following the temporary closure of the airport due to a critical equipment failure. The airport’s fire vehicle has been declared unserviceable, resulting in a downgrade of the aerodrome’s fire category to zero rendering it non-operational under safety regulations.

Maldivian, the sole airline operating commercial flights to Fuvahmulah, confirmed the suspension and stated that it is actively working to assist affected passengers.
The fire category is determined by the availability and readiness of firefighting equipment and personnel. A category zero status indicates that the airport cannot support any aircraft movements until the issue is resolved. Under international and local aviation regulations, an airport must maintain a minimum fire category to support scheduled passenger operations.
